CAR SHARE OR CATCH A BUS
Most of the main "W" walks start at Co-op carpark in Richmond which can be found on the map ». This means we can organise "car sharing" to help minimise fuel used, pollution, traffic on the road and the parking at the walk's starting point. Please help by contributing to drivers' fuel and parking costs.

KEEP US INFORMED
We appreciate that if you are staying close to the walk then there is no point coming to Richmond to car share. If you know you are going directly to the walk starting point please

  • note on booking form
  • or ring 01748 824243 in advance and leave a message with your name, the walk number and how many people

CARRY REFRESHMENTS:
On some walks there may be the opportunity for a "pub stop" at lunchtime but mostly there will not be any such establishment available.
PLEASE CARRY FOOD AND DRINK WITH YOU TO BE SAFE!

COUNTRYSIDE CODE:
Please abide by these rules at all times.
Be Safe - Plan Ahead & Follow Any Signs
Leave Gates and Property As You Find Them
Protect Plants and Animals

EQUIPMENT
The following is considered a minimum requirement
• Food and Drink
• Spare sweater / fleece
• Hat and gloves
• Walking boots
• Rucksack
• Waterproofs
[Note that some walks are in wild and open country at altitudes above 1000 feet, where weather conditions can be noticeably different to that in the valley bottoms.]

GRADINGS
We have graded most walks and those that are moderate grading should be no problem to the fairly fit, normal weekend rambler. They will be at moderate pace over tracks which are rough and uneven so stout footwear is required (ie walking boots).

LEADER
In order to protect fellow walkers the leader has the right to refuse any person for whom the walk would, in their opinion, be inappropriate or whose equipment is considered sub standard. The Leader also has the right to alter the route depending on weather conditions.
Do inform the leader of any medical conditions that you consider they should take into consideration, e.g. regular food stops for diabetes sufferers. If you have a chronic medical condition please ensure that you take enough medication with you.

INSURANCE
Although the event has Public Liability cover, all participants are encouraged to provide their own accident cover. It should be noted that rambling / hiking exposes participants to natural hazards. The Richmond Walking Festival cannot be held responsible for any injury occurring during a walk.

We Regret that DOGS are NOT allowed this year.

We couldn't run this festival without the generous support of many local sponsors and businesses so we hope you will in turn support them during your time at
Richmond Walking Festival.

People requested the following local information which we include without endorsement
Richmond Supermarkets: Ken Warne [independent grocer and sponsor] & Coop in Market Place, Coop superstore off library roundabout. All open late.

Eating Establishments: There are two Indian restaurants plus another takeway, a Thai, a Chinese and two takeaways, two Italians, two Pizza takeaway, two Fish & Chip shops, two kebab shops and various cafes and restaurants. Most pubs serve food.
